Biocon Ltd, Asia's premier biopharmaceuticals company, announced today that Ms. Pratima Rao has been appointed as Mission Director & Head of Biocon Foundation*, the CSR arm of the Company. Prior to joining Foundation, Ms. Rao was heading the Department of Mathematics & Computer Science, Baldwin Girls High School, Bengaluru for over two decades.
Biocon Foundation has been making an enduring impact in enabling social and economic inclusion through its health, education and community development programs, for over a decade. Foundation has endeavoured to create a comprehensive and integrated ecosystem to deliver affordable and effective healthcare to the underserved rural and urban communities in India.
Ms. Pratima Rao is a well-known educationist, an award winning teacher and an author who is committed to quality education. Ms. Rao is the author of the ‘Challenge Mathematics’ a series on mental mathematics, published by Macmillan India Limited, and has also developed ‘Chinnara Ganitha’ self-help books in mathematics in Kannada, for Biocon Foundation, which have been introduced in over 1400 schools in rural Karnataka. She has been a proud recipient of the ‘Best Educator’ award initiated by the Rustom Irani Foundation in Bangalore. She has been associated with the Biocon Foundation’s ‘Chinnara Ganitha’ rural education program since its inception in 2006.
