Biocon Limited, Asia's premier biotechnology company, announced today that it has received global recognition from the ‘Science’ Magazine which features Biocon in its annual Global ‘Top Twenty Employer’ list for the Bio pharma sector. According to the 2012 Top Biotech and Pharma Employers survey, Biocon has been ranked at No 19. Biocon is the only Asian Company to be a part of the Top 20 Elite List which includes leading global innovator companies.

What Makes a Top Employer
Every year, Science commissions a survey to identify the biotech and pharma companies considered to be the top employers in the industry, and also to determine which qualities scientists use to make this judgment. This year’s results are based on 4,276 responses to a web-based survey.
56 percent of survey respondents work in biotech, and 35 percent for a pharmaceutical company, 70 percent have been working for at least 10 years. 78 percent of respondents were based in North America, 14 percent in Europe, and 5 percent in the Asia/Pacific.
For the 11th year in a row, survey respondents ranked “innovative leader” as the most powerful driver of their choice of best company, followed by “treats employees with respect,” “is socially responsible,” “has loyal employees,” “does important, quality research,” and “makes changes needed.”
